The neoclassical Chateau de Courriere was built in 1840, most likely based on a design by the Tournai architect Bruno Renard. The castle is located in a park that is partly enclosed by a high wall and a pond. The 3 hectare site has a beautiful orangery, a garage and an old barn. The park is ecologically managed in accordance with the guidelines of Les Eco-Jardins du Parc Naturel Plaines de l`Escaut.

On International Fragrance Day 21 march 2024 , the children of the Pipaix elementary school came to visit the castle for a very special workshop presented by Monique Douchet and myself ; The little perfumers were going to smell the Castle’s Parfum d’interieur Bouquet Bury that I created 2 years ago. After smelling the perfume, the children were given 15 raw materials to smell and they were given the task to listen carefully to how the smells made them feel.

The raw materials
We smelled Lavander, Blood Orange, an amber accord, a fig and coconut accord, geranium, bergamot, ethylmaltol ( by far a favorite- it smells like caramel!), patchouli, vanilla and many more. It was amazing to see how they reacted to the smells; direct, honest and spontaneous. Their mission was to re-mix Bouquet de Bury into their own room fragrance. Some children made greener more aromatic versions of Bouquet de Bury , while others turned it into a floral gourmand perfume! At the end of the workshop, the children made one big perfume together- which smelled delicious!
NoTele made a cool televison item about the work shop.Watch it here.
Bouquet de Bury is available exclusively for visitors and sponsors of Chateau de Courriere. The perfume notes are: apple, bergamot, geranium, woody notes, patchouli.

Monique Douchet and I , distributing scent strips with pink pepper oil
