Wide-Screen Love Scene
If a perfume can transport you to another place, another time – then imagine what that place would look like if it were a drawing.
The more I progress in my attempts to draw my impressions that fragrances/perfumes leave me with, the harder it gets-impresions change fom day to day.
However in the case of Musc Tonkin by Parfum D’Empire some things are pretty clear to me.
I perceive it as a ‘purple scent’.
I can’t really explain why this is but purple is the association I get with this perfume.
I find it a perfume that is almost too animalistic to wear in public-it’s so sexy, so full of lust – yet very overpowering.
I guess that feeling of lust-maybe being lost in lust-submission & self control, is what I wanted to express.
It was tempting to draw explicit sexual images, however I wanted to try and blend subtle minimalistic estethics with sensuality-I wanted to
visualize something like an ‘elegant dominance’.
I have not bought a bottle of Musc tonkin, I kinda love it AND dislike it at the same time, yet I keep asking for samples of it at the shop.
Olfactory S&M?
From the Parfum D’Empire website:
Vibrant, facetted, surprising, at once nocturnal and solar, this aphrodisiac potion changes on each skin, the better to enhance it. A lick of salt for the taste of skin. A heady floral whiff to remind us that perfume links our bodies to the erotic spells of nature. A liquorous, mulled-fruit burn contrasting with a light, shimmering veil of powder… Unctuous as honey, melting and waxy as the finest leather, the scent conjures living flesh heated by pleasure but also its mossy ink-black depths.
Musc Tonkin, to rediscover the immemorial tradition of love elixirs.
